Dr. Silver is board-certified in Family Medicine and brings to the group, 20 years of Solo practice experience in treating the entire family from pediatrics to geriatric medicine.

Dr. Silver received his Undergraduate degree from San Diego State University in Microbiology. He then obtained his 4 year Doctoral Degree from College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona California. Dr. Silver then pursued his 3 year Post Doctorate Specialty training in Family Medicine at the University of North Dakota school of Medicine in Fargo N.D. After completing all his formal training, Dr. Silver moved to Northern California in Redding to practice the full spectrum of his training of Family Medicine for approximately 15 years before making his final move to the Central Coast of San Luis Obispo.

Dr. Silver has extended his scope of practice to include challenges of Urgent Care and Occupational Health Care Medicine as well. He is eager share his vast experience and knowledge in improving and maintaining your family health care needs.

dr Silver always seems to be in a rush and eager to finish the appointment, doesn't ask many questions or provide much insight, the appointments are usually 10 minutes max.

My first appointment was Dec 3. I don't know why I had to wait 2 and 1/2 months to have the lab work done. This appointment was to go over my lab work. He explained each test result and said I was metabolically fine.

I am sure the pandemic has negatively effected access to health care, but after waiting 2 months for an appointment and 2 more months to get blood work, and I am still waiting for my appointments with the referral doctors, I am still unable to walk and still no diagnosis or treatment.

Randall Silver was rushed and unnegaged whatsoever. I'm sure he is very busy at the moment but I have never experienced an appointment like this before. There was hardly any communication and it did not feel like I would want to put my health in this mans hands. I will most likely not be returning to him as a physician.

no follow up testing after being diagnosed with Lyme and put on Doxicycline. Lm Mix up in Lab orders. I told the Dr I was getting over a Gout Attack in my big toe and I could bust barely get my shoe on. He laughed. When scheduling new labs i had to ask for Uric acid test. He said he could include it. He always seems rushed and not interested in me or what I'm telling him.

recommend that when blood work is ordered that I leave office with a written lab order to take to the lab, or a direct phone number to lab to verify order has been sent.when I arrived at lab, there was no order.checking notes online from visit staff overlooked calling in lab order and it is not in visit notes. Erin was very responsive when I called from the lab and contacted nurse to have order for blood work faxed over.

With the pandemic it's a little strange. I have seen Dr. Silver at least three times for my osteoarthritis. He has totally socially distanced me. He has neither examined my knee nor come within six feet of me. I offered to do a virtual visit when I called for the appointment, but was told I needed to come in. No problem for me, but it really could have been virtual or a phone call. This is NOT a complaint. I realize we are in strange times.

seemed very annoyed that we were there. zero concern for my 83 yo mom health. talked to me not her. asked "how bad is her dementia?" which got my mom upset she said "my memory isn't as good as it used to be but I'm doing pretty good for 83" less than 10 min for a new pt appt. maybe it was a bad day?

It took me several calls of holding for over 30 minutes each time before giving up. Once I did get through to scheduling, I had to wait another 15-20 minutes to speak with a medical assistant.

This was a follow up visit for an injury that is not healing. The doctor made me feel like I was making things up and was very reluctant to suggest next steps. Out of the two visits I've had with my provider for this injury, he has never once examined the complaint area. Vitals are taken by the nurse but that was it. Rather ordered an X-ray and physical therapy. I did not get a chance to speak with him about a referral to an orthopedic doctor and who this may be as he appeared frustrated with my rerun visit and left the room after only 5 minutes.

total of 2 minutes read lab results, handed me my copy asked if I'd had the flu shot, and asked if I had any questions as he was exiting the room with my folder in his hands.. later in the day , he refused to order a refill on a drug he had ordered 3 times & told me to get it over the counter . I have cancelled my follow up appt and am in the process of finding a new primary care physician.

The bad: At times, the call center receptionists were either rude, impatient, and/or unable to help give more in-depth answers to questions about the appointment. Sometimes they would hang up before I can ask all my questions or whomever they said was going to call, never did. I talked to maybe 6 different receptionists and felt helpless in trying to get a straight answer from anyone. it took me until going into the FCPP Family Office (on Casa) in person to finally be able to get things settled for an appointment that would fit my timeline and scheduling needs. Was it a last minute squeeze in for the doctor? yes, but he and the office's receptionist made it work. the ones on the call center? it seemed like they wanted to get rid of me as soon as I got on the line. The good: like I said, in person, I was treated well, by both reception, the doctor, and other medical staff. Dr Silver was professional, direct and personable; the medical assistant was nice, even if she was nervous. If anything, at times, possibly due to miscommunication on my past, but it felt like the receptionists had a scripted response to whatever I was going to ask. Continuing to ask though eventually did help get me the answer I was looking for so it took persistence but they were helpful for the most part. Also, as previously stated, I could've explained something wrongly or inaccurately. Overall, I'd say if the calling experience matched the in-person, things would be a lot smoother as a patient. Perfect? No, but it'd be more reassuring and helpful to know have all areas of the medical office be on the same page, in trying to help the patients that their physicians and practitioners will eventually see. There was definitely a disconnect there and it makes me hesitant and wary about how to proceed if I didn't have the option to drive to the office in-person to schedule something. I hope that can be fixed, as luckily, my situation wasn't urgent but it was still a hassle nonetheless.

Dr. Silver seemed knowledgeable, sincere and approachable with his demeanor and ability to explain things. I appreciated him being able to give me a rundown of my concerns and ask probing questions about my current condition in detail instead of just taking yes or no as the only answer. Even in the short session I had with him, which was already nice on his part to squeeze me into his schedule, it felt thorough in what we covered and discussed. I'd see him again and refer him too

To my knowledge, everyone followed HIPPA procedure and proper infection control. Gloves were used when needed but I wasn't able to see handwashing from inside my patient room but I'm sure that happened. Seeing the ID on the workers wasn't always the easiest to be seen so there's that

My experience was mixed, as stated earlier. Over the phone, mediocre. In person? Much better. It almost seemed like communicating with 2 different companies based on the experience so I'm not sure if this is universally part of the company or if it's just my location. I have no knowledge of the call center's operation but I hope their receptionists can receive better training on communicating with patients in a more helpful and friendly way.

I called the day before to make sure I knew how to set virtual visit and there was a miscommunication and when the day came we couldn't get set up, couldn't hear and the MD couldn't hear me.. then time to review labs, labs were all not done and ordered, only a few was done, that I thought it was going to be done that we discussed 6 months ago and waited 6 months to find out, so not all labs were discussed, the visit took about 5 minutes I felt nothing was accomplished, so next visit I will ha e to come in to office, I feel that is better for me

I may have misunderstood establishing a primary care provider. I thought a physical exam may have been performed. We started the conversation with the need for imaging referral from a chiropractor. However, I thought we might have a discussion regarding the issue and also was hoping for discussion of general health. The conversation was centered around the referral, lasted around 5-10 minutes, and we did not discuss any other health concerns.

The nurse, Patricia, was the only person who seemed interested in any health issues or myself as a person. The remainder of the appointment seemed to be a series of checkpoints to get in and out of an appointment. The followup for referrals was efficient, but I was hoping for a more involved approach from the foundation of my future medical care.

Dr. Silver is very proactive with my health. Gives me a copy of the report & goes over it with me in English not Dr. Speak. He is very thorough. I have nothing but good to say about him. Very professional. If I have a question he answers it. I would recommend him 100%.

The entire visit with the DO was under 10 minutes. He was courteous but I felt like he was in a hurry and everything happened very fast. It made me feel like a number instead of a person. I thought I was going to be getting a physical exam but it was just a preliminary visit and my exam was scheduled for a year in the future. He did prescribe blood work for me and said someone would discuss those results with me if there were any concerns.

Understand Covid protocols - but would prefer a more rigorous and thorough physical exam (apparently not in the cards since March). I have, on last 2 routine visits received more or less only a reading and (admittedly thorough) discussion of labs.

I thought the whole visit could have been done via computer link. Was there to review blood test results so it seems high risk to have a face-to-face versus tele-visit especially during a pandemic. The review took literally a couple of minutes. Hardly worth the exposure.

My whole appointment lasted about 40 minutes. Dr. Silver answered all my questions in a succinct and very knowledgeable way. His assistant was also very helpful and thorough. I had an EKG done magnificently. It was accomplished in about 5 minutes where the last one I got took a half hour. I'm very pleased with the efficiency and thoughtfulness of my appointment.

all of the wait times or reasonable. But wasn't reasonable was the attitude about my part in the delays as opposed to your part in the delays. Of course this attitude is pervasive in healthcare. so I have grown to expect this kind of treatment. In this office however I experience it has almost aggressive. If you can consider "cold" as aggressive.

I acknowledge that FCPP is busy and staffing is short. However, sitting in the waiting area listening to behind-the-counter staff chatting with each other, chatting casually on the phone, filing their nails, etc. it is a lot discouraging when I am put on hold for over 12 minutes after calling the office. Also, please change the "On Hold" music, the noise now in use is very annoying.

Dr. Silver is abrupt, strongly guiding the conversation and demonstrates a desire to be elsewhere than with me at that time. He certainly may well have other patients to see and I don't see a lot of other physicians in the office. However, being summarily dismissed to go see a specialists with out further explanation is a bit abrupt. I will also agree that at 70+ and male, I am not an easy going patient and may be contributing to some of the stress that exists between us.

The only delay was not having the right labs (out-of-date) and that caused delays and hardship getting the labs done and results could not be obtained prior to office visit.

I will never see Dr. Silver again. this is the second time I've had an appointment with him, he was completely dismissive, did not come up with a solution for my problem, told me to continue treating myself at home & rushed me out of the room in under 2 minutes on 2 separate occasions. my entire family are help care providers in NY and I could have diagnosed myself more accurately and considerately than this man. I will make sure to never book another appointment with him again.

Dr Silver was prompt in seeing me however he never laid a hand on me. I was there to establish care, and he never even examined me. mid way through our conversation about my concerns for that visit he said "give me a minute" and never came back. Apparently the visits was over. I won't be back.

From the very start of my visit with the doctor I felt I was being judged in a negatively. Also, while I believe that he probably very good at assessing general health he clearly demonstrated a lack of awareness regarding the specific medical issues I came to him with. He also came across as narrow-minded in his unwillingness to expand his fixed viewpoints on pharmacological interventions for mental health issues. I believe that empathy is critical to healthcare and it was completely lacking in my interaction with Dr. Silver. I also believe he is very "Western" in his approach to healthcare and lacks the ability to consider alternative approaches to healthcare that don't fit nicely with his personal biases. Overall I bet he's a good doctor for providing physicals and reading labs and such. but if you're looking for something more that a cookie-cutter approach to medicine he is not a viable choice.
